Welcome,
Vol. 2, Issue 1
THANK YOU for opening this email! I think you'll find
that it's worth your time to look through. I'll try to
keep it brief and beneficial!
This is our general newsletter. We also publish
community-specific newsletters when there's enough
material for it.
Do you have a news item about your business?
Something you'd like people
in your area to know about? For a limited time, we
are offering this service for FREE! Try it out, at no
obligation. Just send me the details, and I'll e-
distribute it! (I reserve the right to condense, and to
correct for spelling and/or grammar errors.)

We're Getting Back in the Saddle
|
|
Time to get back up on that horse....
After a hiatus due to a family tragedy this summer,
I'm back at work to promote businesses on the
Oregon coast. It's a daunting task to find web
pages - not all businesses have them, and when they
do, they're not always linked from anywhere.
If your business has a web page and you don't
appear in your community's alphabetical list, PLEASE
let me know! It's free exposure.

Coming Attraction! New OCBN feature
|
|
Did a business treat you right?
We will be introducing a "positive review" feature.
You'll be able to publicly give a business a "pat on
the back" when they give outstanding service or
excellent product.
We're working on the best way to implement it.
In the meantime, please send in your comments
and/or suggestions.
We'll compile them and post when the feature is
ready.

Featured Web Site
|
|
La Tea Da, a Tillamook business
While the OCBN exists to promote its members, we
often come across web sites that are just too
nice to pass by. This site isn't fancy, but it looks
nice, is simple, and easy to navigate.
If you'd like to suggest a stand-out site, please let
us
know. We may feature it in our next issue!

Web Design Tip of the Month
|
|
Do you know where your site is pointing?
Whether you design your web site or have someone
else do it for you, you need to pay attention to it to
save embarrassment and potential loss of
prospects.
One issue I've run into lately is bad links. A page will
have links to either another page on their site, or to
an associate business, but these are the common
problems with accessing them:
- The "www" is left out
- The "www" is there but not part of the actual
URL
- The "http" is repeated
- Link points to a file on your computer (something
I've had experience with!)
- The link is just wrong enough to have it point to
an x-rated site!
To avoid the "www" problems, you should have both
registered.
Be sure to check all links on your web site.

Submit Your Storefront!
|
|
FREE - add photo to your OCBN alpha listing
When possible, we put a micro-photo next to a
business' alphabetical listing. If a visitor clicks on it,
it opens in a new window to full-size. But we can't
physically make it around to all stores! So we need
your help.
Why do we do this? It's another service we offer.
When a potential customer comes to a business, it's
helpful for them to know what they're looking for.
So send us your image, and if it' usable, we'll put it
up!

A charity suggestion, in memory of my daughter
|
|
If you're looking for a worthy cause, consider
donating to Turtle Ridge Wildlife Center in Salem,
Oregon. They exist entirely by donation (from what I
understand). When she died, my daughter left behind
a baby animal that she had found months earlier.
Turtle Ridge
was the only place that would take it for
rehabilitation.
Visit the Turtle Ridge web site by clicking on their
logo.
Know of a charity on the coast? Let me know about
them and I'll add them for FREE to our non-profits
page.
Email info and their web address to:
oregoncoastbiz@gmail.com
See our non-profit list, in progress.

OCBN is the most inclusive online directory of
Oregon coast businesses. We promote the
Oregon coast exclusively. In other words, we
promote the whole Oregon coast, and nothing but
the Oregon coast.
If you have any questions or don't wish to click on
links from email, please explore our site by typing
ocbn.net into your browser.
Thank you for taking the time to read our newsletter!
